A Golden Arrow Bus Services driver is facing disciplinary action after he, on Monday, denied entry to an 11-year-old boy, after the child explained that he had lost his bus card.
Little Lifalethu Mbasana who is a grade 6 learner had to trek all the way from Simon’s Town to Makhaza, Khayelitsha where he lives.
City Law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason the boy got a lift with someone to Strandfontein and walked from there to Mandela Park where he met the security officer who assisted him.
”Officers then took the boy to his home where they were greeted by his very relieved mother.”
The little boy arrived home late on Monday night after his concerned parents feared that he had gone missing, or that something had happened to him.
Golden Arrow spokesperson Bronwen Dyke Beyer says the company is not taking the matter lightly:

“It is company to assist scholars in situations where they have lost their gold cards, and that the driver who failed to do so has been suspended. We also have undertaken to review of all of our mechanisms, which are related to lost scholar tickets and to ensure that protocol is followed in such cases,” explained Dyke-Beyer.
The company assisted in the search for the child.
“We were involved in the search for the scholar and have been in contact with his parents having visited his parents last night. In circumstances where unaccompanied minors are making use of our services, we would ask parents to assist us by ensuring they are able to contact them in an emergency situation,” added Dyke-Beyer.
