Former President Jacob Zuma’s corruption trial has been delayed again, to 9 September, as the court now awaits a medical report from his doctors after he was hospitalized last week.

At the time it was reported he was admitted for an annual check-up, but News24 says a high-level military doctor has now told prison and prosecuting authorities that Zuma suffered a “traumatic injury” late last year and now needs “extensive emergency treatment” and six months of care to restore his health. The doctors treating Zuma is to provide a report on his health by 20 August. The State can appoint another doctor to examine Zuma to establish his fitness to stand trial.
