President Cyril Ramaphosa says R1.6-billion has been set aside, to fight gender-based violence in the country.
The funds, through the Emergency Response Plan, will also be used for the establishment of a multi-sectoral Gender-based Violence and Femicide Council.
The President addressed Parliament this afternoon, answering questions posed to him by opposition parties, on how government will be fighting this social scourge.
Ramaphosa says the GBV-F Council, will play an instrumental role in implementing the National Strategic Plan.
