Let’s go on an Easter egg hunt

Published on

Written by: Mienke van Rooyen

Easter has the potential to be such a warming and heartfelt time for families. If you are in anyway similar to me, you’ll also feel need to do something a little bit more creative this season. It’s been a difficult past two years, maybe this is the first Easter gathering you’ll have since the outbreak of the pandemic. When we come together this Easter we have the opportunity to appreciate our loved ones just a little more, once again. To go on an Easter egg hunt is very traditional and fun but here are some extra fun for the whole family.

How to make Easter fun and eventful

1. Easter egg advent calendar

I am a sucker for advent calendars. It’s such a thoughtful project and idea that can either be gifted or used by your own family. Advent calendars can be used by the kids to start counting down to Easter Sunday. You can fill your homemade eggs basically with anything you wish. However Kollabora reccomends confetti with a fun written activity.

2. Numbered bean bag toss

Fingers crossed it’s not raining on that day. Even then “getting a little competitive never hurt any family”, said no one ever. If you think your family can get competitive and still love each other, then I dare you to play this right before dinner.

It is so much of fun and simple  yet you’re guaranteed to have lots of fun.

You can make these yourself, here’s how.

3. Balloon Easter egg hunt

Let’s elevate your Easter egg hunt game by incorporating some balloons. If you’re the Instagram and Facebook kind of person, these will make beautiful photos for you to brag with on your socials. Traditional eggs hunts might be too difficult for younger kids. Balloons will help with those really difficult to find hidden eggs.

4. Jelly bean bingo

What a creative way to entertain the kids and your tastebuds. If you want to be “that” person this Easter, you can play the adult version with some liquids appropriate for those over the age of 18…

5. Easter eggs-ercises

The Seasoned Mom suggest physical exercises or fun dance moves to get some endorphins pumping. Even if your party is lame you can always count on some feel-good-endorphins to lift the mood or make the gathering memorable. However, I would suggest you play truth or dare with these eggs, especially if you are playing with a group of older guests. Whatever question you place in the eggs needs to executed or answered. Just please make sure you are not ruining a family gather with inappropriate questions. This is not the time to find out if Harry is really cheating on Sally. *wink*

Have loads of fun and take many pictures.
