A young woman was shot and killed in the Bonteheuwel area on Friday morning. The body of the 19-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound to the head. The police’s Frederick Van Wyk say it is still unclear what led to the teenager’s murder:

Bishop Lavis police are investigating a murder case following a shooting incident this morning (2023-10-13) at about 06:15 on the corner of Juniper and Jakkalsvlei Avenue, Bonteheuwel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.”

Van Wyk says the motive for the killing is still unclear and that arrests have yet to be made.

“Anyone with information or who witnessed this fatal incident is kindly requested to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”

Meanwhile, the area’s ward councillor Angus McKenzie says there were three gunmen:

“It is believed three young males shot her, then ran through the nearby open field and towards the Metropolitan Sports Field. Two of the individuals are wearing black tops and the other a cream- coloured hoodie. All three are wearing dark bottoms.”

The investigation remains underway.
