Bailey’s Hi-5: 5 Ways Women Deal with Self Doubt

Published on

It might be a week since it was Women’s Day, but August really is Women’s Month and every woman on the planet has to deal with self doubt. Here are some ways to deal with it.

  1.  Sweat out negative feelings. Nothing like a good workout to clear your head and get the endorphins going.
  2. Designate a self-doubt buddy. Having a really good friend who you can share your self-doubt with is amazing. Whenever either one of you is feeling unsure, call or text each other for positive reinforcement.
  3. Normalize how you’re feeling. Tell yourself that it’s totally normal to feel self-doubt, but it can’t control your life. Normalizing the feeling keeps it from becoming too overwhelming. Another great trick is to just visualize a Stop Street sign. It will literally stop those self-doubt thoughts in their tracks and allow you to normalise.
  4. Say a little prayer.  If you’re feeling like you can’t handle something, say a quick prayer or mantra to give you the strength, confidence and capability. It will give you the confidence to know that you’re supported.
  5. Try a power pose. The Superman pose is scientifically proven to enhance confidence. You stand up straight, feet apart, hands in fists on your hips and your chest pumped out. If you’re in public and feel a little silly to suddenly do that, even just straightening your posture will instill confidence.
