Athlone Stadium vaccination drive-through opens today

Published on

The drive-through vaccination site at the Athlone Stadium is officially open.

Even if you are not registered for the vaccine you can still drive to the Athlone Stadium and register there.

There are five drive-through lanes open for people to get the Covid-19 vaccine and when you get screened you’ll be directed to either register on the system or drive up and get your jab.

The system was tested on Thursday and the people who used the drive-through site had positive feedback.

Premier Alan Winde hopped on his bicycle and made his way to the drive-through.

“I cycled from Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital to Athlone to demonstrate firsthand the accessibility that comes from having a drive-through vaccination site. I want to thank all involved, including the Provincial Department of Health and the City of Cape Town, who have made the drive-through site a reality.”
