The Department of Employment and Labor says another 287,000 young people will be appointed as school assistants from November.

According to the Department, this new phase of recruitment forms part of the second phase of the Presidential Employment Stimulus-programme.

The second phase, of R11-billion, also has new initiatives  such as a special mobile platform, where young people can register to gain access to jobs and training.

Minister Thulas Nxesi says more than 2-million young people have already registered on the platform.

The first phase of the job creation project had a budget of R12,6-billion and reached more than half-a-million South Africans.

Phase 2 aims to create more than 444,000 jobs and improve the livelihoods of another half a million people.

Another new component of the programme is a social employment fund, to which the private sector will have access to create jobs for about 50 000 people.
