An urgent plea for blood donations

There are fresh calls for blood donors to lend a helping arm, as blood stocks are critically low in the Western Cape.

 

The Western Cape Blood Service says operations have negatively been affected by the recent inclement weather experienced across the province.

The blood service’s Marike Carli says there is currently a two-day supply for blood groups O:

 

“The Western Cape Blood Service is appealing to the public to donate blood, as the blood supply is under severe pressure. Over the past few weeks, we struggled to maintain the required O blood group stock levels, and our O blood group is still only on two days. To find your closest blood donation clinic, please visit wcbs.org.za.”
