An elderly woman has been killed by a stray bullet in Atlantis

An elderly woman (62) has been killed by a stray bullet in Atlantis. A young man was also murdered in the shooting incident.

Woman killed by a stray bullet

The Police’s Media Liaison Officer, Captain F.C Van Wyk says the incident occurred at about 09:25 at Grosvenor Street, Saxonsea on 12 January. He says the circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are being investigated.

It’s alleged that several gunshots were heard in the street, before the deceased, a 22-year-old man, was seen running in the road. He fell and was subsequently shot in the upper body.

An innocent bystander, a woman murdered

Van Wyk, says at the same time, an innocent bystander who was standing at her gate in the garden was fatally struck in the head by a stray bullet. Both victims died at the scene. Atlantis Police Officers are investigating two counts of murder.

Killings: Information sought

 

He says unknown suspect/s fled the scene. No one has been arrested yet. Van Wyk says the motive is believed to be gang-related. He has called on anyone with information to come forward. You can contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
