A very busy April lies ahead for the Mother City. The City is gearing up for another very busy month when it comes to events. March was also full of activities, which saw thousands descend on the Mother City to take part in these events and April is no different.
The world’s most beautiful marathon
The City of Cape Town coordinates all the events. Some of these will lead to roads being temporarily closed.
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith says, “Cape Town’s April events calendar has something for every kind of event enthusiast. “
This coming weekend, the 53rd Two Oceans Marathon will be held.

The ultra-marathon and half marathon take place on 13 and 14 April.
It starts in Newlands and finishes at the University of Cape Town.
Africa’s largest travel exhibition
One of the major events, that attract many to the CTICC, is the World Travel Market Africa event. It returns to the Foreshore, from 10 to 12 April and it’s the 10th time that it is being hosted in the Mother City.

More than 7 000 delegates from over 100 countries travel to our shores to take part in WTM Africa. They are, among others, tourism industry professionals, exhibitors, buyers and members of the media. They descend on Cape Town for 3 days of trade, networking and deal-making.
Cape Town’s music maestro, Abdullah Ibrahim
One of the country’s living legends, Abdullah Ibrahim will also be performing in the city this week. Cape Town’s music maestro will bring a special homecoming performance to the iconic City Hall on 12 April.

This performance is part of a series of landmark concerts to take place in the country this month.
This a historic event and makes Ibrahim the first solo artist in history to perform such a concert, supported by his 6-piece Ekaya band and with a specially created choir.
He elaborated, “We are again in for a busy month with an assortment of events and as the City of Cape Town we are proud to be a sponsor of many of these events and we are grateful to the event organisers for continuously choosing Cape Town as the host city.”
