A new private Covid-19 vaccination site has opened at Old Mutual

Published on

The private Covid-19 vaccination site at Old Mutual in Pinelands is officially open.

The site will inoculate mostly those on medical aid, but they will try to accommodate some people who are not on medical aid.

The site at Mutual Park opened in partnership with Netcare, Old Mutual and the provincial health department.

It has a current capacity to deliver 1400 doses of the vaccine per day, which can be ramped up to 3000 per day.

General Manager at the Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital Dr. Louis van der Hoven says they are also keeping vaccines aside for some healthcare workers who haven’t yet been inoculated.

He says they do not encourage walk-ins, but will not show anyone away. Van der Hoven has however encouraged everyone to register on the EVDS system and wait their turn.

Over the past five weeks, a total of 205 vaccine sites have been opened across the Western Cape, which includes a total of 33 active private sector sites.
