A Museum of Illusions will soon open in Cape Town. It will be the second such museum in South Africa and the third on the continent. The Big Opening is planned for Saturday, 31 May 2025. The Museum is located on Kloof Street.
A Museum of Illusions to open soon in Cape Town
The owner of the Museum of Illusions South Africa, Mark Collie, says since the Joburg Museum of Illusions opened last July, it has broken global attendance records. He is excited for Cape Town to take the illusion game to the next level. Collie says the Museum of Illusions was originally founded in Zagreb, Croatia in 2015. It quickly evolved into a global success and has welcomed over 12 million guests around the world. He says each location is uniquely designed, offering its take on interactive exhibits that blend science and magic to create awe-inspiring, hands-on experiences.
Each museum is uniquely designed
He says the museum will offer visitors an extraordinary journey through the world of optical illusions, interactive installations, and immersive rooms that challenge perceptions and ignite curiosity. Collie added that you must forget everything you know about museum etiquette.
“At the Museum of Illusions Cape Town, visitors are encouraged to touch, play, explore, and take photos.”
He says, whether you’re defying gravity in the Tilted Room, losing your head in the Clone Table, or multiplying yourself in the Infinity Room, this is a place that will leave your mind truly blown.
“Cape Town’s creativity and curiosity make it the perfect home for our next sensory playground,” Collie added.
A mesmerising new attraction to its vibrant cultural landscape
The owner says that true to its “edutainment” philosophy, the museum appeals to both curious kids and the young-at-heart. He says whether you’re looking for a quirky family day out, an unforgettable date, a fun team-building session, or eye-popping content for your socials, the Museum of Illusions Cape Town will deliver delight around every optical twist. Collie says planning a special occasion, such as birthdays, company team builds, educational school trips or other events, MOI Cape Town is just the place, accommodating all kinds of events, designed for your specific needs.
The Museum of Illusions Cape Town will be open 7 days a week:
Mondays to Wednesdays from 9 am – 7 pm
Thursdays to Saturdays from 9 am – 9 pm and
Sundays and Public Holidays from 9 am – 7 pm.
Similar museums are in cities like Barcelona, Paris, Shanghai, New York, and Dubai.
“After the overwhelming response in Johannesburg, we’re incredibly excited to bring the experience to the Mother City. This isn’t just a museum, it’s a space where science, art, and wonder collide to challenge how we see the world and ourselves.”
Tickets will be available at the door or online, but bookings are recommended so that you don’t have to miss out.
