TABLE MOUNTAIN CABLE-WAY NOW OPEN FOR HIKERS OVER WEEKENDS

Published on

There’s good news for hikers on Table Mountain – a limited service specifically for hikers who want to ride down, applies on weekends.

With more people climbing Table Mountain, it was decided that the cable car would provide a limited service.

The managing director of the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, Wahida Parker, says that according to strict regulations, only 26 people plus the operator of the cable car will be allowed to ride down the mountain.

The service for hikers will operate on Saturdays and Sundays only between 08h00 and 15h00. “Tickets will only be available for purchase online or in the Wi-Fi lounge at the top station.”

Hikers are urged not to hike alone, to dress warmly, carry water and save contact details for emergency services on their phone before embarking on their hike.

The Lower Station kiosk will be open to hikers in accordance with Alert Level 3 regulations to purchase water and light refreshments, as will the rest rooms.
