A global water management framework, developed by professionals across all spheres of society, is using Cape Town’s success in avoiding Day Zero as a benchmark to help other cities become water secure.

The draft framework was released this week ahead of the W12 Congress in May, which will see leaders from water-stressed cities gather in the Mother City to address water challenges.

Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will be one of the keynote speakers. The President of the W12 Rene Frank says the Terminator actor is keen to learn from Cape Town, as California also experienced a severe drought in 2008

Cape Town has really become a global symbol of how to solve a water crisis, which has led to unprecedented water collaboration across all sectors of society.

One of the participants of the W12 Congress, is the Institute for Ecological Civilisation. The President of the Institute Phillip Clayton says the scale of the cooperation that is happening is very significant.
