Bailey’s Hi-5: 5 Fun Tips to get Creative in the Kitchen

Published on

Do you find yourself in the kitchen with little inspiration? Are you about to make the same dish for the millionth time? Yawning over the leftovers?

If you are so bored in the kitchen, here are some fun tips to reignite your passion.

  1. Do an ingredient challenge for yourself. An ingredient challenge can be as simple as cooking with a type of meat you’ve never tried before, or incorporating a spice you’ve never used. It can create a whole new world.
  2. Try a recipe you’ve never done. Choose a dish you’ve never made before, look up a recipe that doesn’t seem too intimidating or complicated, and give it a shot.
  3. Choose a recipe out of a cookbook. Guaranteed you have at least one cookbook. Also guaranteed – you have to blow dust off it. Do that and then find a recipe you haven’t made in a while, or ever.
  4. Use seasonal produce. Go to the supermarket and look at what produce is in season. I know it’s Citrus season now – so maybe you want to try a new citrus salad, or an orange drizzle cake, for example. Using seasonal produce is not only a healthy move for your body and the Earth, but it’s also a great way to shift how you’re planning your meals.
  5. Do it for Instagram. If thinking about your meal like a work of art makes you feel more creative or inspired when it comes to meal planning, by all means, consider your breakfast a photo shoot! Pile up your green tea pancakes on a pretty plate and topping them off with fresh strawberries. You’ll want to find other meals that look pretty as a picture and also up your presentation game for when you have dinner guests.
