RWC: Scottish cleaned by Big Green Bok Machine

Published on

The Boks got the title defense off to a win in their Pool B encounter against Soctland.

Despite their dominance, the Boks couldn’t fully take advantage and score. Over time, Scotland gained confidence and confronted South Africa’s strong physicality. After enduring an early onslaught, Scotland started to recover in the second quarter. South Africans had to defend exceptionally well to stop Scotland from scoring. Scotland relied on Finn Russell’s penalty just before halftime to earn their only points.

These points came at a crucial moment, potentially affecting the psychological state of the teams. Although South Africa dominated most of the half, they couldn’t create a significant lead on the scoreboard. Manie Libbok scored two penalties in the first quarter, putting Scotland at a 6-3 disadvantage. Nevertheless, this score showed that Scotland was still competitive.

A win is a win no matter how scruffy and yes, the Scots raised a few eyebrows. Focus now is to eliminate any doubts completely, learn from the mistakes made today and make sure Siya and boys deliver the type of rugby that humiliated the All Blacks two weeks ago.
