Cereal has been used to set a new Guinness Book of World Record. Teenagers from Chicago have set the new record for creating a gigantic cereal mosaic, and they did it all for a good cause.
On Thursday 11 August 2022 the teens set out to create the mosaic and raise money for the Ukraine
Teenagers in Chicago armed with boxes of breakfast cereal created a Guinness world record-breaking mosaic on Thursday – and raised money for Ukraine in the process.

Reuters reports: “Using some 5 000 boxes of cereal donated by Kellogg’s, members of the Chicago Children United for Ukraine created a gigantic cereal mosaic on the floor of the Wintrust Financial Corporation’s Grand Banking Hall in downtown Chicago.”
One of the teenagers, 15-year-old Michael Kotcher tells Reuters: “They used yellow Corn Pops boxes and blue Rice Krispies to recreate a depiction of the Ukrainian flag. Ukraine has been fighting off a Russian invasion since February.”
He added: We wanted to raise awareness for Ukraine,” said 15-year-old Michael Kotcher. “So, we decided to break a record with a good cause behind it.”
Then the group where left to solve a small problem, what to do with all that cereal. The teenagers will reportedly be donating the cereal to a local food bank and at the same time donors have pledged nearly $15 000 to the fundraiser.
