This is the call of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, who is attending the 144th Plenary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Mapisa-Nqakula is leading a multiparty delegation of senior Members of the South African Parliament to the IPU Assembly. She says Parliaments have a responsibility through oversight and other interventions, to minimize the impact of climate change on communities.
